Heroin

Today I was driving home and caught some radio segment/interview with Russell Brand. I don’t know much about him so I can’t say whether I like the man or not, but he had this interesting bit about his heroin addiction. He spoke about how everyone has this vague idea that we’re not whole, we’re all missing something. Some people fill the whole with love, others with god or obsessing over a football team. Heroin to Brand objectified that need. Those with god and girlfriends, still might feel empty, but once you’re on Heroin it’s all you need. It fills the hole. Obviously, heroin is not the answer to this psychological need people have to feel complete, and I’m not saying one way or the other if I think this need exists, but I just thought it was interesting to think of. People are restless, the mind digs deep. Are fools only satisfied?
